When to Go

Mexico is a convenient and affordable destination for residents of the U.S. and year-round tropical weather allows travelers to enjoy the beach whenever they choose to go. Cozumel averages around 80 degrees -- warming a little in the summer and cooling down during wintertime -- and the water temperature stays in the mid-70s to low-80s throughout the year.

High season begins around Christmas and lasts through the spring. The months of March and April bring the spring break crowds, so be wary if you’re trying to avoid big groups of young revelers. After Easter, low season means fewer visitors.

The popular travel months of mid-December through April coincide roughly with the dry season, which is from mid-October to April. The rainy season lasts from May to mid-October. Late afternoon showers clear up by evening, leaving cooler temperatures.

Cozumel cruise itineraries often include other Mexican ports as well as stops in Belize, Honduras, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica.
